My leadership and communications skills, as well as close relationship with the community, have secured the newspaper a number of NSW Country Press Association Awards, including the EC Summerlad Memorial Award for Journalism in 2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06, the NSW CPA Award for Editorial Leadership and Community Involvement runner-up in 2004-05 and the EC Summerlad Memorial Award for News Reporting runner-up in 2006.
Under my editorial leadership, the paper also took out the prestigious PANPA Newspaper of the Year title in 2004 after gaining a Highly Commended award for our first ever entry in 2003.
As part of my training with Fairfax, I have completed a series of Management Development courses for executives which included components such as situational leadership, managing human performance, employment law and discrimination, high performance presentations skills (public speaking), marketing, coaching, mentoring and counselling as well as creative thinking, business networking and personal development.
